The Story Behind Novum

I started Novum because I kept seeing the same thing. Small business owners with something real to offer, something worth finding, and a digital presence that was letting them down. I would walk through a craft show or stop at a local event, try to find that business later, and hit a broken link, a blank page, or nothing at all. These were real people doing real work and nobody could find them online.

I also saw what happened when they tried to fix it. Someone would reach out, promise to handle it, do the bare minimum or make it worse, and disappear. I know because it happened to me. I ended up going back and doing the work myself, and in that process I started connecting the dots between everything I had spent fourteen years learning in the automotive industry. Making systems work together. Building things that actually line up. Doing what you say you are going to do.

That bothered me. Still does.

So I built Novum to give small businesses the kind of web design, branding, and digital strategy that used to cost industry prices, without the industry price tag. Done right. Done honestly. Done by someone who actually shows up.

Most agencies put you in a box. Here is your package, here is your shoebox, do not expect anything outside of it. They do not take the time to get to know you, they do not dig into who you actually are, and to them you are just another number on a client list. The bill is usually somewhere north of twenty thousand dollars before they will even talk branding.

We believe business owners deserve better than that. Your brand should feel like you, not like a template someone else already used. The person building it should actually pick up the phone when you call. And the work should go above and beyond what was promised, not stop exactly at it.

Novum is rooted in Roanoke and Southwest Virginia but the work reaches well beyond it. What stays consistent no matter where a client is located is the approach. Direct. Collaborative. Built around what your business actually needs, not what is easiest to sell.
